Pimsleur is a fantastic learning course for any language and many people buy Pimsleur products everyday. If, however, you are a first time buyer of a Pimsleur audio course then you need to be a little careful about how you choose to buy.
Pimsleur is a world famous language learning course and many different merchants distribute it across the internet. Most are very reputable but some, especially some of the download sites, are not official distributors and may charge you for a bootleg download of your required courses. While this may be rare, it does happen.
Another thing to be careful of is to ensure that you read all of the text and small print very carefully before you give your credit card numbers. An example of this is PimsleurApproach. While PimsleurApproach is perfectly above board, some people often find their site misleading. Before I continue I must say that PimsleurApproach can actually be a very useful and convenient system for completing an entire course and paying for it in installments. They offer a very cheap ‘taster’ course for $9.95 with free shipping, and then will send you 30 day trial courses of the next component of that language courses. If you do not send the follow up courses back, they will charge you $64 per month over 4 months for each course. While the price per course is comparative to many other merchants and the cost is spread out, the bills can eventually mount up as they send a new course every two months and bill for it over four. Now to be fair to PimsleurApproach, this is their membership deal and is stated very clearly on the purchase page. It is not small print, it is in a prominant box in big font next to the order form. They also state of course that if you send the courses back within 30 days and cancel them then you will not be billed. Many people order through PimsleurApproach fully understanding the terms, and are very happy with the monthly payment system. Some people, however are not.
Please, please make sure that you read all of the print before you purchase anything. The merchant may not be unscrupulous but you should know exactly what you are paying for.
